Typical working day in retail

Retail is a particularly exciting industry for people who like to be actively involved, as no two working days are the same. Depending on the job, you will work in sales, at the checkout or in merchandise care and get to know different areas of the store.

The focus of your new job:

  • Customer advice and sales:You support customers in a friendly and service-oriented manner with their purchases.
  • Product presentation and shelf maintenance:You ensure that the goods are presented attractively and pay attention to availability and correct price labeling.
  • Cashier activity:You take on cashier activities reliably and conscientiously.
  • Goods receipt and inspection:You receive deliveries and assist with warehousing so that the goods are optimally prepared for sale.

Teaching and qualification

A successful final apprenticeship examination in retail or initial professional experience in sales is an advantage, but not a prerequisite for a job in retail. Career changers are also very welcome and will receive comprehensive training in the respective job.
