Brixlegg: A historic industrial town home to Austria's only copper smelter
Brixlegg is one of the oldest settlements in the Lower Inn Valley and has been known for its copper processing for over 550 years: The Montanwerke Brixlegg remains Austria’s only copper smelter to this day and is a major employer in the region. The town is centrally located at the entrance to the Alpbachtal Valley and is well connected to the neighboring communities of Rattenberg and Kramsach via the Inntal Autobahn. Historic buildings, such as the Kupferschmiedhaus in the town center, have survived the heavy bombing raids of World War II. After work, the nearby hiking trails in the Alpbachtal invite you to relax.
